W. Belle long, 74, of Oak Ridge, passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2010.
She was born on April18, 1936 in Waukegan, Illinois, the third child of Shirley Raymond Patty and Altha Caylor Patty, both of Walland, TN. Her family moved back home to Tennessee in 1952 and lived in Oak Ridge where Belle graduated from high school in 1954. She went on to graduate from Knoxville Business College.
Belle moved back to Illinois, but later settled in Oak Ridge with her son, Derrell, where she worked for ORUD from 1972 to her retirement in 2005. She took great pride in her work and loved taking care of her customers. She had co-workers and customers who were like family to her. Belle's love for her own family was obvious as soon as you walked up to her desk and saw the many family photos adorning every available spot in her office.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Olin Patty, and his wife, Mildred Patty of Alaska.
She is survived by her son, Derrell Long and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Daniel and Nikki long, Christi Noe, and Catherine Agee; great grandchildren, Gardner and Silas Agee; brother, Edward "Bud" Patty and wife Pat of Claxton; nieces and nephews, Jeff, Dennis and Dusty Patty in TN; Terry, Ann and David Patty and Keith Anderson in Alaska.
The family will receive friends from 6-7pm on Tues, August 24, 2010 at Weatherford Mortuary. A memorial service will follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Brian Long officiating.
