• RINGLING -- Funeral service for Judith Annette "Judy" Allen will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ringling First Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Ringling Memorial Cemetery.
Born on July 12, 1939, in Brushy Mound to Woodrow and Hazelle Pennington Patty, she died on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at her home in Ringling.
Judy graduated as valedictorian of Mountain Home High School and attended Murray State College in Tishomingo, where she was a cheerleader, a member of the Commerce Club, was the lead in the drama club play and was voted best actress. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society in college.
She and Thomas Boyd Allen were married on June 6, 1959, in the front yard of his home in Ringling. They spent the next 42 years of marriage working together at their business, Ringling Lumber Company, and raising three daughters.
Judy was an artist, first with a pencil, pastel or brush on canvas and later with a camera, photographing beautiful scenes while traveling extensively with her husband.
She loved quilting and spent many hours in her yard, landscaping and nurturing beautiful flowers and trees. She was a shining example as a wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Gwendolyn; and her mother, Hazelle Patty, in 1983.
She is survived by her husband, Tom, of the home in Ringling; three daughters and sons-in-law, April and Jim Cooper, Ringling, Joni Allen, Austin, Texas, and Leah and Randy Simmons, Ardmore; her father and stepmother, Woodrow and Ethel Patty, Norman; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and John Kennedy, Houston; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Dick Patty, Norman, Terry and JoAnn Patty, West Linn, Ore., Sam and Patsy Patty, Mannsfield, Texas, and Bill and Jeanette Patty, Medicine Park; five grandchildren, Dylan and Beau Sparks, Ringling, Tena, Jamie and Brent Simmons, Ardmore; and two great-grandchildren, Dylin Chaney and Isabelle Harvey.
Bearers will be Marland Vance, Jack Wilson, Les McCauley, Cartez Allen, Ronnie Austin and Rocky Patty.
