Birda Mae Patton Andrews, 65, of Lubbock passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Covenant. She was born April 2, 1945 to Leon and Bourdine Patton in Nacogdoches, Texas. In 1950 she moved to Lubbock and attended Ella Iles and Wheatley Elementary schools. She graduated from Dunbar High School in 1964 and Texas Tech University in 1975.
Birda accepted Christ at an early age and worshipped at St. John Baptist Church and later was a member of Lyons Chapel Baptist Church where she served as President of the Deaconess, Senior Choir, and a Missionary Worker. She worked for Lubbock ISD for 25 years and was an active member of the Lubbock Dunbar Alumni Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 45 years, L.V. Andrews; two sons, Kevin Andrews and Reginald Andrews; one daughter, Karin Andrews; one granddaughter, Regina Andrews; one sister, Juanita Patton-Johnson (Edward); and a host of other relatives and friends.
