Mrs. Anna Patton Hughey, 82, of Blytheville, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at Saint Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Lamar to the late Walter and Lucy Ross Patton, she was a longtime Blytheville resident and a homemaker. She was the former owner of Home Bake Shop and was actively involved with the Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and needlework. She was a member of Beacon Baptist Church and was actively involved with the Beacon Women's Missionary Auxiliary and the Master's Builders Group, building churches all over the country. In addition to her parents, she was also proceded in death by her husband, Drew F. Hughey, three brothers, Odell Patton, Alfred Patton and Burl Patton, and two sisters, Hila Peterson and Margaret Patton.
Mrs. Hughey leaves four children, Joanne Sherman and her husband, William, of Plano, Texas. Gary Hughey and his wife, Sandy, Rena Bradley and her husband, Harley, all of Blytheville and Debi Russell and her husband, David of Jonesboro. Three brothers, Pierce Patton of Ypsilanti, Michigan and J.D. Patton and his wife, Priscilla, and Kenneth Patton and his wife, Sharon, all of Portageville; Three sisters, Opal Gamblin of San Diego, Minnie Alice Clay of Portageville and Laverne Beland and her husband, Cam, of Tucson, Arizona.; Seven grandchildren, Sheila Sherman of Plano, Randy Sherman of Washington, D.C., Laura Shankle and her husband, Tony, of Chapel Hill, TN., Lisa, of Lowell, Amy Welch and her husband, James, of New Orleans, La., Amanda Kirby and her husband, Shaun, and Beth Austin and her husband, Jeremy, all of Jonesboro, and Dannah Jones and her husband, Chris, of Huntsville, Ala.; Eight great-grandchildren, Sarah Ismail of Plano, Corey and Hunter Shankle of Chapel Hill, Addison Welch, William Welch and Blythe Welch of New Orleans and Jacob Austin, Cody Austin and J.D. Kirby of Jonesboro; and Many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville with the Rev. Ken Pruett officiating.
