George Walker Patteson

PATTESON, George Walker, 83, passed away on November 1, 2013 with the same gentle dignity with which he lived. A loving husband, father and grandfather, George spent his working life at Central Fidelity Bank where he served as Vice President of Trust. A member of The Richmond Blues, George also served in the United States Navy on the USS Hemminger and was in the Navy League. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College and attended the University of Virginia School of Law. In recent years, George was a docent at the Virginia Aviation Museum and a doorkeeper at the General Assembly. He was also a member of the Sons of the Revolution, Richmond Kiwanis Club, The Country Club of Virginia, Fishing Bay Yacht Club, and in the past, the Virginia Motor Sport Club. George is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; his daughters, Anne Patteson Franklin, her husband, Howard; and George's grandson, Guy Patteson Franklin; as well as Elizabeth Patteson and her husband, Michael. He is also survived by cousins, Mary Patteson Morgan and Jack Patteson. George was dearly loved by a group of close friends whom he has treasured since the 1950s.
A service and burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 5, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 12291 River Rd., Richmond, Va., followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church or to the Pablove Foundation, 6607 West Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, Calif. 90028, dedicated to fighting pediatric cancer.
