Maggie Luola Patterson was born on October 5, 1929 in NC to William H. Patterson and his wife Julia Jane Coffey Patterson. Once she grew up, she married William Samuel Alexander around 1898/1899. She had 6 children, Sadie, Henry, Mary, and Sutton (whose first name was also William). Sadie died as a young girl and is buried in the family plot with her parents and two unnamed infants. Luola was widowed in 1929 and never remarried. She died on May 7, 1969 as the result of a fall at her home in which she broke her left femur on January 23, 1969. She never recovered from the fall and died of CVR disease. She was buried in Providence Church cemetery on May 9, 1969

Mrs. W.S. Alexander, age 90, of 5906 Old Providence Rd. passed away at 4:40 p.m. May 7, 1969 in a local hospital. She was born October 5, 1878 in Mecklenburg County, N.C., daughter of the late W.H. Patterson and his wife Julia Jane Coffee (sic) Patterson. Mrs. Alexander had lived in Mecklenburg County for all her life and was the widow of W. Sam Alexander. She was a charter member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 9th, from the Harry and Bryant Chapel in The Oaks, conducted by Dr. James F. Fogartie and the Rev. Eugene L. Daniel of Myers Park Presbyterian Church, with interment in Providence Presbyterian Church cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J.P. Fleming of Charlotte; one son, Rev. Harry W. Alexander of Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Miss Maude L. Patterson of Charlotte; one brother, P.P. Patterson of Charlotte; two grandsons, W. Sutton Alexander Jr. and Harry W. Alexander, both of Charlotte and four great-grand children. Her son, W. Sutton Alexander, passed away in 1959 and was prominent in golfing circles. Friends are sending memorials to the Barium Springs Orphanage. Pall bearers will be Hank Hrabanek, Capt. O.A. Crenshaw, Fred G. Hutchison, Raeford W. Hutchison, Herbert W. Alexander, Robert H. Hunter and L. E. Johnson.
