Following her graduation from High School she went to work for the shipyards in California. She later worked for Tinker Air Force Base until her retirement. When Esther was 26 years old and living on the west coast she met the love of her life Raymond Lexas Guthrie the couple was married in Reno, Nevada on March 2, 1946.
The couple returned to Seminole 64 years ago from California. They were of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and his wife Virginia Guthrie of Seminole, Oklahoma, Johnny and his wife Ann Yandell of Edmond, Oklahoma, David and his wife Gloria of Seminole, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren, Bryan Guthrie and his wife Paulette, Kelly Hamm and her husband Chad, Shawna Guthrie, Amber Guthrie, Lisa Hayden, Linda Ault, Kim Parhum, Jaimee March and Beth Johnston; 25 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other family and dear friends.
Esther is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Raymond Lexas Guthrie who died May 12, 2004; one sister, Vickie Gardner; and by one brother, Delton "Jug" Pate who died in 2004.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2011 at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Interment will follow at Little Cemetery with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.
Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
