Nellie M. Pate, 78, of Altus, died at her home Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Thursday at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel with Bill Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

Nellie was born Nov. 4, 1930, to Emon J. and Ivy (Smith) Lindsey in Camden, Ark. She graduated from Fairview High School in Camden with the class of 1948. She married Thomas J. Pate on Oct. 26, 1967, in Reno, Nev. She worked as a telephone operator and in food service, but mainly she enjoyed being a Mom and homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles, but her true love was for her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Pate; her parents, Emon and Ivy Lindsey; two brothers-in-law, and a nephew. Nellie is survived by one daughter, Terri Valley and husband Vincent of Ft. Belvoir, Va; one son, Gary Beaver and wife Betty of Las Vegas; two sisters, LaVerne Mayo of Arbyrd, Mo, and Margie Moses of Magnolia, Aark; five grandchildren, Greg Beaver and wife Anissa of Burbank, Calif, Teresa Beaver of Las Vegas, GySgt. Leonard D. Beaver and wife Victoria, stationed in Seoul, Korea, Brady Thomas Valley of Ft. Belvoir, and Kelsi Valley, also of Ft. Belvoir; and seven great-grandchildren.
