Anchorage resident CAROLINA P. BUNGAY, 80, died Oct. 7, 2000, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. Visitation and a service were held at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St. Pallbearers were Joel Bungay, Elmer Jueco, Elmer Bungay, Jomar Santilices, Edelmer Jueco, Marcial Jueco, J.R. Jueco, Erwin Jueco, Charlie Bungay, Noel Bungay, Jay de Lara, Doro Valerio, Noel Suarez and Erik Suarez. Burial followed the service at Anchorage Memorial Park.
Mrs. Bungay was born Dec. 30, 1919, in the Philippines and moved to Alaska in 1976 to live in Kodiak. While living there, she worked in a cannery, and later left to care for her grandchildren. She moved to Anchorage in 1985. She was a member of Iglesia Ni Cristo. Her family said she enjoyed singing and watching television. She also enjoyed having company. ''She loved all her grandkids and great-grandkids,'' the family added.
Mrs. Bungay is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Ligaya Calonge, and Raquel and Noel Suarez, all of Hercules, Calif., Zenaida and Doro Valerio, Dory and Cliff Fortman and Carolina and Elmer Jueco, all of Anchorage, Erlinda Bungay of Kodiak, and Anita Bungay of the Philippines; sons and daughters-in-law, Joel and Concepcion Bungay of Anchorage and Dante and Charing Bungay of the Philippines; sisters, Lucing Villar of Seattle and Linda Arana of Kodiak; brothers, Antonio Pastor of the Philippines and Fidel Pastor of Kodiak; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Alaska, California, Seattle and the Philippines; and many loving and supportive friends.
