She was born in Pocahontas, Iowa on May 21, 1926, the daughter of George W. and Dora (Heid) Pascal. Virginia graduated from Grand Mound Iowa High School in 1943, where she was class President and Valedictorian, and she attended the Cadet Nurses Corp. at the University of Iowa College of Nursing, Iowa City for 3 years. After graduation she had worked as a nurse at University Hospital in Iowa City, IA. She married Robert Carlsen on November 14, 1946, in Iowa City. She and Robert lived in various cities in Wisconsin before moving to Janesville in 1969. They spent 14 enjoyable winters in their home in Englewood, Florida before becoming full time residents of Janesville in 2004. Virginia had worked as a teacher's aid for the Title 9 Reading Program at Adams and Roosevelt Schools in Janesville for several years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, the Ruth Circle and the Janesville Elks Club. Virginia enjoyed golf in her early years and was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing. Virginia passed away at Harbor House.
