Mr. Jack Lavarn Parsons, 76, of 333 Dixie Road, Clinton, died Thursday at Duke University Medical Center.

Mr. Parsons, a native of Sampson County, was the son of the late William Lonnie Parsons and Lula Howell Parsons. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a son, Dan Parsons. He retired from Triangle Cadillac and was a member of Owen Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. He was a US Army and US Air Force veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Pope Parsons of the home, three daughters, Angela Parsons Jordan and husband Jesse of Marion, SC; Joy Parsons Byrd of Clinton, and Elaine Parsons Walton and husband Herbie of Wilmington, two sisters, Kathleen Cannady and Pete Hope, three brothers, W.J. "Dub" Parsons, Franklin Parsons, and Charlie Parsons, six grandchildren, Brittany Hicks, Serena Alcorta, Daniel Parsons, Amber Powell, Jessica Jordan, and Olivia Walton, two great grandchildren, Micah and Xavier Hicks.

The family recieved friends Friday evening from 6-8pm, December 12, 2008 at the Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home of Clinton and other times at the home.

A memorial service was held at 11am, Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Owen Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Kim Strickland and Rev. Tony Trogden officiating.
