The funeral of Mrs. Jessie P. Harmon, 51 years old, was held yesterday from the First Baptist church. The Rebekah lodge had charge of the services. Rev. J. B. McMinn officated. Her death followed an illness of more than two years.
Jessie Parrish was born in Mt. Carbon, Nov. 9, 1873; Jackson county being her home all her life. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Parrish, the former dying at his home in this city thirty-four years ago and Mrs. Parrish passing away twelve years ago.
She was married to Wm. H. Harmon March 22, 1893, at Makanda and to this union one child was born, Mrs. Neva Misks, who died in Cleveland, Ohio, several years ago. Mr. Harmon was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad Company at Memphis, where he died January 26, 1922, the remains being brought to his home for burial.
Mrs. Harmon was a nurse by profession, having credentials from two states, Illinois and Ohio. She had been nursing for more than 21 years, most of the time in Carbondale and vicinity, but held positions in state institutions at Cleveland, Ohio.
