Funeral services for 78-year-old Freda C. Parrish of Eagle Grove who died at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, will be Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 10:30 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove.

Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery at Eagle Grove.

Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Rosary is at 5 p.m. with Father Chris Podhajsky officiating.

February 10, 1929 -- September 30, 2007

Freda Catherine Parrish, the daughter of Herb and Nettie (Victor) Thoma, was born February 10, 1929, in Varina, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, graduating from Barnum High School in 1946. On November 27, 1946, Freda was united in marriage with Kenneth L. Parrish at Barnum. The couple lived in Eagle Grove for 56 years and had four children. Freda started working as a nurse's aide at Rotary Ann. She then went to college and received her nursing degree and worked at Rotary Ann for 32 years. She loved nursing and caring for others. Freda also took care of her son Mike who was in poor health for many years.

Freda was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Guild and several clubs. Freda loved sewing and made quilts for every member of her family, besides embroidering tea towels for them all. She also enjoyed her garden, flowers and canned many jars of food she loved to share with her family. Freda will be missed by many.

Freda died Sunday, September 30, 2007, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge at the age of 78 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth and son, Michael Parrish. Survivors include three daughters: Carol Slauson and husband Jim of Kansas City, MO, Jan Terwilliger and husband Randy of Eagle Grove and Melody Pletsch and husband Dale of Belmond; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers; 4 sisters and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Chris Podhajsky officiating. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
