Mrs. Maude Lanham, County And City Resident Many Years, Died In Kansas

Mrs. Maude Lee Lanham widow of Walter W. Lanham and residents of Edina and Knox County for many years, died at 5 o'clock Sunday Morning at St. Cushing Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas. She was 73 years old and had been in failing health for several years and had moved to Leavenworth about 20 years ago.

The body was brought to the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home here yesterday for funeral services this afternoon at 2 o;clock. The Rev. David Dawson, pastor of the Edina Christian Church, will officiate and burial will be in the Linville Cemetery.

A daughter, and only children Nadine, Mrs. Darrell Lowe, and two grandchildren, Peggy and Diane Lowe, of Leavenworth survive, also a sister, Rose, Mrs. John Jarowitz, of there and a brother, Harley Parrish, Sr., of south of Edina.

Mrs. Lanham was born Sept. 22, 1892, in Knox County, a daughter of Abraham Gibbs and Ida Belle Gragg Parrish. As Miss Maude Parrish, she was married to Walter William Lanham, who as a small child moved with his parents to Knox County from near Springfield, Ill. Following their marriage they lived in Newark and in Scotland County a few years then moved to Edina, where Mr. Lanham owned and operated a garage for some time. At the time of his death, May 9, 1946, they were living on a farm near La Belle, and she then returned to Edina to their home in the north part of town. She later moved to Leavenworth where the daughter lived and where Mrs. Lanham worked in a hospital for several years. She was a member of the Christian Church.

Her father died in 1897, her mother in 1945, and she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Parrish, who died when 11 years old, and Claude Parrish, in 1930.
