Alexander, Marjorie Elizabeth, 81, of Big Spring, died on Sunday, September 24, 2000, at her residence. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 26, 2000, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Wanda Hill, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Coahoma, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

She was born on January 5, 1919 in El Dorado, Texas and married R. J. Alexander, Sr. on October 31, 1936 in Brady, Texas.

Mrs. Alexander graduated from El Dorado High School in 1936 and attended Draun's Business School in Abilene.

She worked as a bookkeeper at Vincent Gin in the 1950's.

She then worked in civil service at Webb Air Force Base for 23 years, retiring when the base closed.

Marjorie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coahoma. She loved her church and was very active until her health prevented her from attending.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include her husband, R. J. Alexander, Sr. of Big Spring; two sons, Jeff Alexander and wife Marjorie Ann of Big Spring and Dr. Gerald Alexander and wife, Roberta of Fresno, California; four sisters, Maurine Rust and Fern Humphrey both of San Antonio, Lois Van Vleet of Stanton and Mozelle Williams of Houston; five grandchildren, Gregg Alexander of San Francisco, California, Michelle Alexander of Gabravo, Bulgaria, Angela Lindstrom of Fort Worth, Tracy Savoy of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Stacy Dykes of Lewisville; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ward and Hazel Parks; and by one brother, W. C. Parks.

Pallbearers will be Gregg Alexander, Stacy Dykes, Altus Kelly, Tom Roundtree, Claude Alexander and James Alexander.

The family suggests memorials be made to Home Hospice, 600 S. Gregg St., Big Spring, Texas or the Coahoma Methodist Church, 401 N. Main St., Coahoma, Texas 79511.

Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
