William (Bill) Jordan Parks, age 72, died April 16, 1997, at his home south of Salisbury. He was a lifelong resident of the Asbury community and was born June 28, 1924, son of Moses Hurt and Anna Lou Patterson Parks.
He attended the Hurt School for eight years before graduating from Salisbury High School in 1942. At that time he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in both the European and Pacific Theaters, during World War II.
In June 1945, he was married to the former Virginia Vonceil Noll. They were the parents of three daughters, Patricia Lymer, Kirksville; Barbara McKenzie, Keytesville; and Beverly Rein, Kansas City.
Survivors are his three daughters; seven grandchildren, Paula May, Des Moines, Iowa; Bill Lymer, Kirksville; Jonel McKenzie, Fulton; Travis, Eric and Kayla McKenzie, Keytesville and Jenny Rein, Kansas City; and three sisters, Margaret Fitzpatrick, Salisbury; Louise Famuliner, Bay Minnette, Alabama; and Helen Ward, Los Angles, California.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, July 27, 1991; his parents; two brothers, Harry Parks and Tom Parks; and three sisters, Frances Mulholland, Eleanor Kroner and Peggy Howell.
Mr. Parks was a farmer almost all of his life in the Asbury community where he attended church and was an active member of the Asbury Cemetery Board. He served 25 years for the U.S. Agriculture Department, the last 20 years as Office Manager of the Keytesville A.S.C.S. office. He was also a member of the V.F.W. and lifelong active member of the Democratic party.
Visitation was held Friday evening at McFadden-Fuemmeler Funeral Home and the funeral was Saturday afternoon at the funeral home with burial in the Asbury Cemetery. Rev. Stanley Henderson conducted the service. Music was furnished by organist, Jean Marie Harvey and soloist, Lucy Vaughn.
Pallbearers were Marvin Kottman, Raymond McCloud, Mike Meyer, Gary Parks, Ronnie Fitzpatrick, George Hanke and Eddie Hanke.
