From the Newspaper of 30th November 1944 - Mrs Parker, 24 Bow Street, Stirling, has been officially notified that her husband, Gunner Lionel Herbert Parker, Royal Artillery, has been killed in action in Italy. Gunner Parker, who enlisted in March, 1940, was the third son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Parker, Upper Craigs, Stirling, and in civil life was a weaver at the Caledonian Carpet Factory, Forthbank, Stirling. Thirty-one years of age, Gunner Parker in his younger days played for the Craigs football team. His brother, George, is a prisoner of war in Germany, and two other brothers, Robert and Thomas, are also in H.M. Forces.
