Dorothy Denton Artz, 86, of Commiskey died Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, at The Waters of Clifty Falls.

She was born Sept. 21, 1919, in Fayette County, Ky., the daughter of Jesse and Margaret Bell Juett Parker. She was an attendant at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville for 25 years. She was a member of the Commiskey Baptist Church and attended Tea Creek Baptist Church, both in Jennings County, for several years. She enjoyed gardening and traveling.

Surviving are two daughters, Betty Artz Manning of Commiskey and Nancy Artz Wolfensberger of Syracuse, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Artz, whom she married Nov. 7, 1939, and who died Oct. 4, 2004; and one sister, Evelyn Juett Swaim.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Tea Creek Baptist Church, with burial in Vernon Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon and at the church after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions through the funeral home to Tea Creek Baptist Church.
