Funeral arrangements for Mr. Adarian Parker, age 15 of Henderson are pending with Garmon Funeral Home.

Mr. Parker passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 due to an auto accident.

A West Rusk sophomore football player was killed in a one-vehicle accident Friday 6 miles northwest of the city of Henderson in Rusk County.

Adarian Parker, 16, of Henderson, was driving a 2002 Ford Expedition traveling southeast on Texas Highway 323 about 1:20 a.m., Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Jean Dark said.

The investigating trooper’s report stated that the vehicle might have had some malfunction, Trooper Dark said. The driver, Parker, lost control of the vehicle and it left the roadway and struck a tree, coming to rest facing west in the roadway, she said.

Justice of the Peace Joe Sorrells pronounced Parker dead at the scene.

Parker was a potential starter in the offensive line for the Raiders at West Rusk High School.

According to KYTX CBS19, Coach John Frazier said Parker and another player were headed home from practice when the accident happened. Frazier said Parker’s smile and upbeat personality would be missed.

A passenger, London Martin, 15, was released from the hospital with minor injuries, according to West Rusk Athletic Director and Head Football Coach John Frazier.

“While we are very thankful that London is OK, our hearts are broken for the loss of a sweet gentle giant,” Frazier said. “We will miss Adarian’s sweet smile and upbeat personality. Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved in this tragic situation.”
