A native of Cleveland County, he was born on Dec. 23, 1922, the son of the late Vinia Parker Queen. He retired as a truck driver with Carolina Freight after 22 years of service. He was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary T. Hoyle Parker of Shelby; one son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Carol Parker of Shelby; two stepsons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Connie Hoyle and Kenneth and Denise Hoyle, all of Shelby; one brother and sister-in-law, Garland and Hilda Queen of Gaffney, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be tonight at 7:30 in the chapel of Stamey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Seigman officiating. Family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7:30 at the funeral home. Burial will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pisgah Baptist Church cemetery.
