Mr. John Russell Parker, 55, ...died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County, he was the son of James "Buck" Parker of Shelby and the late Lillian Mauney Parker.
He was a graduate of Shelby High School, Class of 1968, and graduated from Cleveland Community College. He was formerly employed with J. P. Stevens, retired as warehouse manager for the city of Shelby. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Past Master (1984) and Tyler of Cleveland Lodge No. 202, A.F. & A.M., 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and Oasis Temple Shriner and Past Worthy Patron of Shelby Chapter 110, O.E.S.
In addition to his father, he is survived by uncles, Robert and wife Maggie Parker, A C "Tom" Parker and wife, Joyce, of Shelby, Billy Dean "Jake" all of Shelby, P G "Speed" Parker and wife, Lib, and Glenn "Vop" Parker and wife, Jo, of Lattimore; five aunts, Daisy Mauney King of Hendersonville, Margaret Williams of Greensboro, Betty Greene and husband, Herb, of Granite Falls, Mary Ellen Denton of Lattimore, JoAnn Nanney and husband, Martin,and Susie Clark, all of Shelby; and dozens of loving cousins who live in Shelby, Cherryville, Lattimore, Hendersonville, Fletcher, Raleigh, Greensboro and Wilmington.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, with Dr. J. M. Ezell and the Revs. Timothy Sims and Marion Adams officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery with Masonic rites by Cleveland Masonic Lodge No. 202."
