Counsellor Willard Combes Parker died at his home at the age of 77. He was the second oldest member of the Hunterdon County bar. He died from a combination of heart failure and pneumonia.

Son of the late Avery and Ellen Higgins Parker. His father, who was a native of East Haddam, Conn. for many years conducted a jewelry store in Flemington.

He graduated from Peddie Institute in Highstown in 1873 and entered the sophomore class at Brown University and was graduated with honors in 1876. He was admitted to the bar in 1879. In 1883, he became a counsellor at law and later was named a Master in Chancery. He entered into a partnership with his brother-in-law, the late Henry A. Fluck, and practiced here until 1886, when he moved to Kansas City, Mo. in partnership with Clarence L. Palmer. He returned in 1896 and the firm of Fluck & Parker was resumed, continuing until 1901 when Mr. Fluck died.

He married Miss Margaret B. Higgins on October 12, 1881. She was the daughter of Joseph H. and Margaret Higgins. His wife survived him, as did two of their sons, George Rollin Parker and Charles Russell Parker.

A third son, Avery W. Parker, died of influenza January 16, 1919. There were three grandsons, Willard Case Parker, George Rollin Parker, Jr. and Abram Case Parker.

Mr. Parker was a Republican and had been a candidate for Congress on one occasion. He was a charter member of the Hunterdon Club and a member of the Brown University Chapter of Delta Upsilon. He served as president of the Board of Education in Flemington Boro. During his term, the new High School was erected. He was a director of the Flemington National Bank and became vice-president in 1924.

He was a baseball player in his younger days.

His obituary was published on the front page (cont. on pg. 12) of the Hunterdon County Democrat on March 2, 1933.
