Evangeline Pappas Theo, age 89, joined her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 10, 2012. A native of Shreveport, Mrs. Theo was a first generation American whose parents Anthony Emanuel Pappas and Katharine Milaitou Pappas became naturalized citizens after leaving Greece. She was the oldest child, joined by her brothers Emile T. Pappas and Nicholas A Pappas. Mrs. Theo graduated from Byrd High School in 1940 and lived most of her life in Shreveport, with brief periods in Columbus, Ohio and Houston, Texas. Mrs. Theo and her husband, the late Jim John Theo owned and operated Theo's Snack Shop in downtown Shreveport for more than thirty years and Evangeline's Antiques for ten years..

In her earlier years, Mrs. Theo was very active in the Greek-American community, serving in many positions in the Daughters of Penelope (a women's fraternal organization) and the Ladies Philoptochos Society of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. She was an outstanding homemaker who excelled in cooking and sewing.

Mrs. Theo is survived by her brother Emile Pappas and his wife Fran Pappas, whom she considered a sister; her brother Nicholas Pappas; her sister-in-law Aspasia Theo Mandrapilias and her husband Nick; her brother-in-law Andrew J. Theo and his wife Koula; her children Frances Katharine Adams and husband Bobby Adams; John Konstantine and Mitzi Theo; Helen Celeste and Neil Smith; and Gerald Anthony and Jeannie Theo, as well as seven grandchildren who include Elizabeth Theo, Aaron and Jenna Adams, Jonathan Adams, Julia Evangeline Smith, Matthew Theo Smith, John Anthony Theo, and Warren Michael Theo, and one great-grandchild, Carly Adams. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. and the funeral will be held on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 2 p.m.; both at Rose-Neath Funeral Chapel, 1815 Marshall St. Grave site is Greenwood Cemetery. Father Paul Martin of St. Paul's Episcopal Church will officiate.
