Death: Jan. 4, 2011

BIMSHAS, Dorothea 74, of South Orleans, formerly of Winchester died peacefully on January 4 after a prolonged illness. Born in Dorchester on May 9, 1936, she was the only child of loving parents, John and Afrodite Pappas. An excellent student at Boston Girls Latin and Northeastern University, Dorothea enjoyed a 39 year career at Arthur D. Little, initially as a technician and a consultant where she worked on a variety of Food and Flavor Lab projects. Her interest in marketing and market research led her to the subsidiary, Decision Resources. She earned her MBA and was responsible for overseeing the research, writing and production of Health Care reports for clients. A successful marketer, she was elected Vice President of that organization, which she continued to help grow. Her passion for problem solving, classical music, opera, ballet, card games and her gourmet cooking will be missed by her family and a wide swath of lifelong friends and new acquaintances alike; all equally charmed by her worldview, pragmatism and forthright wit. She is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, John Bimshas and his sons and their extended families, John "Jack" and Kim Bimshas of Ohio, James "Jim" and Judie Bimshas of New Hampshire and Karl and Karen Bimshas of California, and she joins the memory of his deceased daughter Kathleen Bimshas. A visitation in her honor is scheduled from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Monday, January 10 at Nickerson Funeral Homes, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, Massachusetts with remembrances immediately following at 7:00p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Michaels Orthodox Church, 62 Main Street, Cotuit, MA, Tuesday, January 11 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers please consider a Tribute Gift to the Visiting Nurses Association of Cape Cod, 434 Route 134, Suite D-3, South Dennis, MA 02660 in Dorothea's name.
