Barbara Murphy, 73, of Rockford, Ill., formerly of Dubuque, passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, in Arlington Cemetery, Rockford. Fitzgerald Funeral Home-Mulford Chapel, Rockford, is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara was born on April 20, 1938, in Dubuque, daughter of Peter and Katheryn (Koster) Pape. She moved to Rockford on Jan. 21, 1968.

She married LaVerne Murphy July 30, 1955; he preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 2006. Her love and care was always for her family.

Barbara worked as a cosmetologist out of her home for many years, retiring in 1994.

She was a member of the Humane Society and Animal Welfare.

Surviving are her daughters, Kim Murphy and Victoria Murphy; grandchildren, Joseph Murphy and Valerie (Joshua) Forster; great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Riley, Katheryn, Ali, Izabella, MacKenzie, Cameron, Joseph Jr., Raymond and Jasmine; and a brother, James (Barbara) Pape.

She also was preceded in death by her parents.
