Eben O. Palmquist Jr., age 83, of Naperville, IL died Thursday, December 26, 2013 at his home. He was born on June 21, 1930 in Kansas City, Kansas.

Eben was a graduate of Paseo High School in Kansas City, MO. He received a B.A.in History from University of Kansas City (UMKC), M.A. from University of Missouri Columbia in Education and PhD in Education from Loyola University Chicago, IL. He taught at Morton West High School in Berwyn, IL from 1957 to 1991.

Eben served his country in the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry in Korea. He had a great love of books, trains, baseball, the humanities, crossword puzzles, and bird watching. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, teacher, and coach.

He is survived by his wife Mary (nee Berce), his son John (Jennifer) of (Tustin, CA), his daughter Karen Palmquist of (Naperville) and his son, Karl Palmquist of (Naperville), his grandchildren Clare, Eric, Lauren, Lindsey and Kristin Palmquist, his brother, John (Jan) of Parkville, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eben and Florence (nee Quigley) Palmquist Sr., his sisters Barbara (Don) Carpenter and Judith Velasquez and brothers Sam (Ada) Heinlen and Charles (Betty) Palmquist.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home and Crematory, 516 S. Washington St. Naperville, IL, from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:15 A.M. and precede to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Green Trails Dr. and Naper Blvd at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Naperville, IL. Memorials to University of Missouri at Columbia, School of Education.
