Verdie Lee Brown, 90, of Waco, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at a local nursing facility. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Willow Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Willow Grove Cemetery.
Verdie Lee was born In Willow Grove, Texas, to the late Julius and Pinkie Palmer. She grew up and attended elementary school in the Willow Grove Community. She married Clain Brown in December 1936. Verdie's employment experiences in Waco were with the Green Tree Café and Crawford and Austin Manufacturers. She later moved to California. After 25 years as a housekeeper for the Steiner Family, she retired. She then returned to Waco to enjoy retirement and her favorite past-time of reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clain; son, Palmer Lee; brothers, Quinton, Teddy, Stanley and Eunice Palmer; and sisters, Evelyn, Marie and Bernadine.
She is survived by son, Ralph L. Brown, of Waco; brother-in-law, Richard Brown and wife, Leona, of Lancaster, Calif.; sister-in-law, Rosie V. Palmer, of Waco; a devoted niece, Charlesetta Farris; nephew, Julius Denton, of Waco; and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
