Vivian "Vidy" L. Alpers, 82, of Danville died at 2:03 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 25, 2002) at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville. Tiffany Black will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Danville.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Alpers was born July 17, 1920, in Danville, a daughter of Clarence W. and Helen Burgoyne Palmer. She married Marion Henry Alpers on July 4, 1942, in Danville. He died July 30, 1985.
Surviving are a son, Greg Alpers of Kokomo, Ind.; a daughter, Karen Thomas of Danville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
Mrs. Alpers was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, Danville. She was a former member of Lincoln Grade School Kitchen Band and volunteered at the Danville Veterans Affairs Hospital. She was a homemaker and was employed at The Fashion and Elder-Beerman. She was a Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls fan. She enjoyed knitting.
