DAVENPORT - Gladys Palmer, of Davenport, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at her home. Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. today at The Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Postilion House, Davenport. Gladys was born March 5, 1913, in Davenport, the daughter of Frank and Ella (Hoffman) Dittmer. On November 14, 1936, she was united in marriage to Merle D. Palmer at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1994. She had been employed for 10 years with the Davenport school system prior to her retirement. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Davenport Moose Lodge, where she enjoyed playing cards and dancing. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy (Don) Braafhart, of Davenport, Carole (Dick) Petersen, of Davenport, and Linda (Leon) MaKoben, of Stockton, Iowa; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; 18 and a half great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Lola Dittmer, of Davenport; and brother-in-law, Tom Wolf, of Walcott, Iowa. In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers, one grandson, and one great-grandson. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Postilion House for their loving care for the last three years.
