Girl Scout
Leader, Dies

Mrs. E. R. Kellogg, 51, 241 Ninth
street south, died at 7:30 this morn-
ing at her home after a six months'
illness. Executive director of the
Wisconsin Rapids area Girl Scout
Council since 1937, she had been on
leave of absence since July.
Funeral services have been ar-
ranged for 2 o'clock Tuesday after-
noon at the First Methodist church.
The Rev. Milton C. Feldt is to offi-
ciate, assisted by the Rev. A. W.
Triggs. Interment will be in Forest
Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Kellogg, the former Thelma
B. Paley, was born in Shell Rock,
Ia., on April 12, 1898, the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Otto L. Paley. She
married Edward R. Kellogg at Shell
Rock on September 2, 1920, and
they resided at Newton and Fort
Madison, Ia., for a period of eight
years before moving to St. Paul,
where they lived until coming to
Wisconsin Rapids in 1936.
Surviving are her husband; her
father, Otto L. Paley, this city, and
one son, Theodore E. Kellogg, Min-
neapolis, a teacher in the University
High school at the University of
Always interested in Girl Scouting,
Mrs. Kellogg became very active
in the work after moving to
this city. She was one of the leaders
in the group of local citizens
who worked toward the establishment
of Camp Sacajawea, one of
the outstanding deep woods camps
in the midwest. Membership in the
council has grown from 90 when
Mrs. Kellogg took over its direc-
tion to a total of 850 registered
members this year.
She was a member of Ahdahwagam
chapter, Daughters of the
American Revolution.
Friends may pay their respects
at the Baker chapel from Sunday
noon until Tuesday noon and at
the church from 1 o'clock until time
of services.
