CONNOR, Celia Gibson (nee Pagano) was born Dec. 10, 1910 in Blackpool England and passed away March 22, 2012 in St. Petersburg at Carrington Place. In 1931, she immigrated to the United States from Edinburgh, Scotland. In 1931 she married James G. Connor from Portobello, Scotland in Bryn Mawr PA. Her marriage ended 12 years later when her husband was killed in action during WWII while serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force in England. She became a successful hair designer and had her own salon in Palm Beach for a number of years. During her middle age she overcame her fear of water, learned to swim and became a Certified Swimming Instructor and Life Saver. She spent many hours doing volunteer work with various organizations. She was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. A highlight of her life was meeting President Kennedy as a guest at a White House ceremony honoring Congressional Medal of Honor winners. She is survived by her son James N. (Geni) Connor of Hudson, OH; her grandchildren, Dr. Jeffery (Jenny) Connor, Judyth L. Connor, Jonathan M. Connor; and her great-grandchildren, Connor Loehr, Dr. Jordann Loehr, Morgan Loehr, Alex (Jenn) Connor and Ben Connor Smith. She was a dynamic woman and greatly loved by all. A private family service and inurnment will take place in Athens, OH later in the spring.
