Olive M. Farrier Allison was born June 17, 1859 in West Chester, Ohio, one of the four children born to George and Mary Packer. Her brother, Mack of St. Joe, Mrs. James Timmerman of Nodaway and sister, Miss Ella Packer of Greenfield all preceded her in death.
When a very young child, she came across country by covered wagon, with the family, to Adair County, Iowa, where she resided for many years. Later they moved to Mt. Etna, where she was married in 1882, to A. W. Allison. Here she resided until a year ago when she went to make her home with Wilfae in Winterset. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Allison, Ray and Wilfae, who survive; Leon and Beryl, who passed away some years ago, as did the father. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Allison and Wilfae were all at her bedside when she passed away, November 2. Other relatives who survive are a brother-in-law and wife., Mr. and Mrs. Abe Allison; her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ray Allison, a number of nieces and nephews.
The deceased was a member of the Methodist Church, from which she was buried Friday, November 3, in Mt. Etna. Services were conducted at two o'clock by Rev. Ida Roberts assisted by Rev. Ace Smith. Pall bearers were Bill Stearns, Emmett Townsley, Albert Kingery, Frank Kingery, Dell Hadley and Leslie Murphy. Burial was in the Mt. Etna Cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs. Walton Boswell, Mrs. John Dotson, Clarence Johnston, Charles Johnston, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Anda Johnston.
