James Madison Piggotte was a Blacksmith during the Civil War, and was part of the 65th Regt. Co. I, and became exempt from Military Service 1861-1865. (James Madison is my GG Grandfather)

The following information was contributed by Linda Claire Robinson...His Father changed the spelling of his name from Piggotte to Piggott after he moved from SC to Alabama. Some of his children elected to spell their name as Piggotte.
