After an illness of several months George Pfeifer of Helenville died at his home on May 26, of stomach trouble. The deceased was born 69 years ago Dec. 14, 1858, on a farm adjoinging his oWn, June 22nd, 1887. He enterEd into holy wedlock with his surviving spouse, Margaret nee Hoffmann. Their union and home was blessed with 12 children, all but one daughter surviving the father. Mr. Pfeifer was an earnest and conscientious husband and, upright in all his dealings with his fellowmen, and exemplary christian and provided spouse and father. In the sweat of his brow he labored for his loved ones with perceivable success. Towards the end of last year his exceptional health and vigor failed him suddenly and it became painfully apparent that his early career was nearing its termination. On the morning of May 26th the husband and father surrounded by his loved ones, peacefully departed this world to enter the life laid up for him in heaven.
The deceased is mourned by his wife and by his 11 children, Geo. Pfeifer, Jr., Mrs. Emil Kiesling, Mrs. Albert Olson, Margaret Pfefier, Henry, John, Mrs. Wilmer Gaugert, Louis Pfeifer, Gottlieb, Anna and Martha. Five brothers and three sisters survive their brother: Mrs. S. Brewer of Jefferson, Louis Pfeifer, Fort Atkinson, John of Whitewater, Mrs. L Roth, Helenville, Gottlieb Pfeifer, Madison, August of Minot, N. Dak.; Mrs. F. Bless Ft. Atkinson, and Philip Pfeifer of Helenville. The departed leaves five grandchildren.
On May 29th the mortal remains received a christian burial. After largely attended funeral services at the house of mourning and at St. Peter's Lutheran Church burial took place in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. E. C. Fredrich officiating.
