Mrs. Christine Owens Balliew, age 92 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Bartow County on August 7, 1922, daughter of the late Arthur Coleman and Lillie Mae West-Owens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William Floyd Balliew; brothers, Charles Owens and Arthur Owens; a sister, Dorothy Owens; a brother-in-law, Hugh Don Davis; and a grandchild, Tanya Timms.

Christine was retired from Springs Industries. She was a member of Echota Baptist Church.

Children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Christine Owens Balliew were held Friday, January 9th at 2:00 PM from Echota Baptist Church, with Dr. Brent Davis, Rev. Lamar Bearden, and Rev. Randy Davis officiating. Music arranged by the Peacemakers. Interment followed in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving were grandsons and great-grandsons and included Stuart Balliew, Jamie Balliew, Nathan Sexton, Russell Sexton, Ritchie Balliew, Joey Jordan, Jackson Jordan, and Reagan Jones.

The Balliew family received friends at the funeral home Thursday, January 8th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
