Laura M. Rhinehart Owen, 65, died at 6:58 AM Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where she had been a patient 11 days; she had been ill since 1994. She was born March 28, 1935, in Francesville, and had resided in Lafayette since 1955, coming from Rochester. She was a Rochester High School graduate. On April 15, 1955, she married William M. Owen in Rochester; he survives.
Mrs. Owen had worked at the Women's Clinic of Lafayette from 1965 to 1994. She was a member of Harvest Chapel, Sweet Adelines since 1961, Hoosier Harmonettes, several other area quartets and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She was a former queen of the Yellow Rose Ball.
Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Teresa "Teri" Camp (husband Tom) of Lafayette and Tracie Runda (husband Brad) of Anderson; a brother, James Rhinehart of Wellington, OH; five sisters, Olive Bell Kilander of Chesterton, Miriam Blackburn of Mishawaka, Barbara Sommers of Grass Creek, Donna Weltzin of Jefferson, WI, and Alma Hubeny of Kewanna; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two children, Kimberly Sue and William Troy Owen; three brothers, Owen, Irven and Morley Rhinehart; and a sister, Elmora Cook.
