Charles Berton Overstake was born March 20, 1923, in Dravosburg, a son of Samuel Berton and Elizabeth Boyer Overstake.

Bert served in the US Marine Corps during World War II.

Bert married Lucille Kaufman, and they became the parents of a son.

Bert was an inspector for US Steel Irvin Works and retired with more than 40 years of service.

He was a member of Liberty Presbyterian Church, and the Croatian Club in Versailles.

At the age of 89, Charles Berton "Bert" Overstake, of Liberty Borough, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at home.

He was survived by his wife, Lucille Kaufman Overstake; son, Berton D. Overstake, of Greensburg; sister, Opal Marsh, of Latrobe; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Kaminski.
