OBITUARY
FORT COLLINS, CO - C. H. Sam Overmyer, age 83 of Fort Collins, Colorado died Friday, May 20, 2005 at a local nursing facility. Cremation is complete and a memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday June 6, 2005 at the Buckhorn Presbyterian Church, Masonville, Colorado.
Clyde Henry Overmyer, Jr. was born on April 9, 1922 in North Platte, Nebraska to Clyde, Sr. and June Overmyer. He grew up in Hartford City, Indiana and served with the Marine Corps in the South Pacific during WWII. After the war, Sam married Marjorie Manners and they moved to Chicago so Sam could attend the Chicago Art Institute. They then went to Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota where their son's were born and he worked as a commercial artist and in sales. They moved to Mankato, MN where Sam worked as an advertising manager. Following his retirement, in 1980, Sam and Marge moved to Masonville and Ft. Collins to enjoy the mountains, work part-time in his own business as a commercial artist and be closer to their sons.
He was an avid sports enthusiast, of most all sporting events. He was very comfortable and spent a lot of time in the outdoors and was an exceptionally loving husband and father.
Sam is survived by his two sons, Bruce of Louisville, CO and Rick of Ft. Collins; a sister, Esther Weseli of Indianapolis, Indiana and his brother, Robert Overmyer of Carmel, IN. Sam's wife preceded him in death, as did a sister, Margaret Thomas.
