Kenneth Burtte Over, 87, of Sykesville, formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Beltsville, Maryland, died Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the Howard County General Hospital. Born March 19, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Charles Wesley and Harriette Horner Over. He was the husband of the late Dana Lynne MacBurney Over who died March 3, 2014. They had been married for over 60 years. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a BBA Degree and then took undergraduate classes for SRA certification courses to become a Senior Real Estate Appraiser. He was employed by Equitable Life Assurance Society of the U.S. in Pittsburgh, Charleston, WVA and Washington, D.C. for 15 years and retired as a loan officer with the Maryland National Bank in 1989. He served in the U.S. 8th Army, 192nd Ordinance Battalion stationed in Kobi, Japan from 1946-1948. He was a member of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 223 in Sykesville, life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 467, Westminster, life member of the Corinthian Lodge, Pennsylvania Consistory, Pittsburgh and Syria Temple, Pittsburgh. He also loved to play the piano, restoring antiques automobiles, having coffee with friends at the Eldersburg McDonalds and traveling to Florida in the winter. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Cathy Lynne and John Boteler of Laurel, MD, son David Burtte Over, Sr. of Carlisle, PA, grandchildren William and Amy Boteler, David, Jr., and Julie Ann Over of Kensington, MD, brother and sister-in-law Howard and Nancy Graham Over of Allison Park, PA, nephews Thomas Wesley and wife Jackie of York, PA and Todd Graham Over of Landover Hills, MD. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2015, 11:00 AM at Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church, 961 Johnsville Road, Sykesville, MD 21784. Inurnment will be private. The family will receive friends Tuesday 10:30- 11:00 AM at the church. The Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home, 6028 Sykesville Road, Eldersburg, MD is handling funeral arrangements.
