Jewell Mae Darby, 89, of Mexia died October 26, 2011. Funeral services October 28, at Blair-Stubbs Chapel with Rev. Bill Wright, Sr. officiating. Inter­ment was in the Mexia Cem­etery.

Jewell was born Sep­tem­ber 1, 1922, in Conroe, to John­ny and Aneta Iwone Cur­rier Outlaw. She has been a resident of Mexia for 46 years. She was a retired employee of the Mexia State School.

Jewell married Ros­coe L. Darby on June 13, 1944. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.

Jewell is survived by two sons, Donald Darby and wife, Jackie of Mexia and Billy Darby and wife, Dorothy of Wylie; one daughter, Shirley Gipson and husband, Ronald of Round Rock; grandchildren, Bobbie Morton and husband, Don of Mexia; Troy Dar­by and wife, Amanda of Mexia, Brian Gipson and wife, Paula of Colorado, Cody Darby and wife, Misty of Me­xia, April Jagnow and husband, Dan of Austin, Jeffrey Gipson and wife, Katie of Austin and Tina Thornton and husband, Shannon of Wylie; and siblings, Charles Outlaw and wife, Jane of Cleveland, TX, Melvin Outlaw and wife, Gladys of Conroe and Evan­geline Dees of Naco­doches.
Pallbearers were Troy Dar­by, Cody Darby, Don Mor­ton, Jeff Gipson, Brian Gipson and Dan Jagnow.
