Anton Otteni Claimed by Death
The announcement of the death of Anton Otteni, a well known and highly respected resident of McKean township, will be read with great sorrow by his many friends and acquaintances. Mr. Otteni passed away at his home Wednesday morning at 11:30 o'clock aged 51 years. He was ailing since last February, but was able to be up and around until three days before his death. Everything possible was done to prolong his life but of no avail.

Deceased was born in Baden, Germany June 8, 1868, and came to this country with his parents when he was three months old. After living in Erie for eight years the family moved to McKean township where deceased had been living ever since.

In the year of 1890 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Pfeffer, who passed from this life in 1893(*1). In the year of 1898 he was married to Miss Josephine Wingerter, his now surviving widow. Mr. Otteni was an industrious man, highly esteemed by his many friends for his honesty, uptightness and his integrity of character. He was a good and ever obliging neighbor and a good provider for his family.

He leaves to mourn besides his widow one daughter from his first marriage, Miss Anna Otteni and eight children from his second marriage: Fred, Clarence, George, Charles, Anton and the Misses Rose, Theresa and Catherine Otteni. He is further survived by his mother, Mrs. Therese Otteni by six brothers, Jacob Otteni, of Erie, John of Branchville, Pa., Frank, of McKean township; Fred and Edward, of Millcreek township, and Joseph Otteni, of Prescott, Arizona, and four sisters, Mrs. Michael Zurn, Mrs. Julius Metz, and Mrs. Frank Alberstadt of Erie, and Mrs. John Wurst, of Kearsarge, Pa.

Mr. Otteni was a member of St. Francis Xavier church, McKean Pa. In fraternal circles he belong to the Order of Owls and to the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 66. The funeral will take place from the family residence in McKean township Saturday morning at 9:15 and from Francis Xavier's church, McKean, Pa., at 10 o'clock. Interment will be made in Sterrettania cemetery.(*2)

* NOTES on Obituary:
1) Per marriage record, Elizabeth Pfeffer Amman and Anton Otteni were married 11 April 1893 (not 1890).

2) Per St. Francis Xavier church records, Anton is buried in St. Francis Xavier cemetery, not Sterrettania cemetery.
