COONEY– Ernestine E., 96, formerly of Moxham, died Sept. 5, 2009, at Windber Hospice. Born June 4, 1913, in Johnstown, daughter of John R. and Margaret (Mullen) Oswald. Preceded in death by parents; husband, George W. Cooney; infant brothers, Paul and Eugene Oswald; brother, John G. Oswald; and sisters, Bernice Bishop and Margaret Harkins. Survived by her daughter, Anne L. Mathias-Maxwell, wife of Cameron Maxwell, Salix; grandchildren, Dr. Marjorie Mattis, and partner, Lisa Byrnes; Pamela, wife of John Bizzarri; Timothy Mattis; and Adam Mattis, married to the former Joy Gomula; great- grandchildren, Brady and Alivia Bizzarri and Jayden Mattis. Formerly employed by Sylvia Electronic, Lock Haven, and in the dietary department at Mercy Hospital. Member of St. Patrick Church. Past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Bellfonte. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Moskal and Kennedy Colonial Funeral Home, Ohio Street and Highland Avenue, where vigil service will be held in the afternoon. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Church, the Rev. Matthew Reese, celebrant. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum.
