DEATH CLAIMS YOUNG WAYE FARMER
Carl Osterkamp passed away at the University Hospital, Iowa City, Wednesday morning, Jan 4, at 8 o'clock after an operation, Dec. 31st for carcinoma of the stomach.
Mr. Osterkamp was born June 4, 1892 at Galendorf, Fehmarn, Hostein, Germany, as son of Dietrich and Caroline Osterkamp. Here he was baptized in the Lutheran church and later confirmed. In 1906 he entered the United States and ever since had resided in Wayne township, first working on the farm and then established his own home on Dec. 23rd, 1915, when he joined hands in Holy wedlock with Miss Frauke Margaret Freese, who passed away suddenly Dec. 1, 1918. He was married to Miss Anna Ketelsen, June 23, 1920, the now mourning widow.
For several years the deceased was ailing with stomach trouble, which became serious a year ago, to such an extent that he was unable to work and was constantly under the Doctor's care.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Elmer, of his first marriage, and five children, John, Louis, Luella, Welda and Helene, of his second marriage, an aged mother, five brothers, George, Hermann, Ernest, Nicholas and Matthaeus, one sister, Henrietta, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held last Friday, January 6, at one o'clock, at home of mourning, and 1:30 at Wayne Zion Lutheran church.
