Obituary. "Nichols - Sept. 29 - Mrs. Forman, widow of the late John Forman, died at her home in east River street, Monday, Sept. 28. She is survived by two children, Mary and John Forman." Interesting Note: Have been trying to speculate as to how John Forman met Anna Osterhout, as she lived in Wyoming County, Pennsylvania, and he lived in Tioga County, New York (a good distance apart). Sarah Munch wrote on Ancestry.com's Osterhout Web Board on 2 Sep 2002: [The following extract refers to Anna's mother, Sarah Osterhout.] Their home in LaGrange was known as Osterhout's Tavern and was the only public inn kept on the east side of the Susquehanna River between Tunkhannock and Pittston in early years. She was known as "Aunt Sally" and raised 12 children under unfavorable conditions to become respectable adults. So here are the facts:
1. Sarah Osterhout was widowed early in life, and raised 12 children.
2. She operated a tavern along the Susquehanna River.
3. Nichols, New York is also along the Susquehanna River.
= Therefore I surmise that John had occasion to travel down the Susquehanna River and frequented the Osterhout Tavern, where he met lovely Anna (see photo), Sarah Osterhout's youngest daughter.
