Georgia Emogene (Orton) Ashburn was born on August 5, 1924.

She was married to Clarence Ashburn for 51 years.

Beginning with the opening of Rivergate Mall in 1971, she worked in the ladies shoe department of Castner-Knott for 28 years and was often recognized as the "shoe lady" with the pleasant personality and the constant smile. Georgia's faith was an inspiration to all who knew her, and she is remembered for her quick wit, kind heart and gentle spirit.

A resident of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, she was 89 years old when she passed away on February 19, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her husband, granddaughter Ginger Epley, brother Henry Orton and by sisters Lois (Orton) Baker, Grace (Orton) Towry, Jessie (Orton) Ayers, Ethel (Orton) Gaida and Velma (Orton) Worley. Survivors included her brother, two sisters, five children, seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one 2nd-great-grandchild.

Burial was in Woodlawn's Cross Mausoleum.
