POOLE, Mrs. Dora (W. H.) of San Gabriel & Rodessa, LA. Age 88. Died 3/24/1948, at the home of her daughter in Rodessa, LA. Body was returned to Rockdale. "and several hours after the sister's body arrived the older sister, Mrs. Clark, died at the family home in San Gabriel". Services held for Mrs. Poole on Friday morning. Rev. W.R. Irving of Louisiana officiated. Burial in IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale. Both women were natives of Pontonoc, Mississippi and were educated in the Chichasaw Female College there. Mrs. Clark, as a young lady came to Texas and Rockdale in 1874, shortly after the town was founded. She accepted a position as teacher and soon after her sister, Mrs. Poole, followed to take up teaching. They taught in Milam Co. schools for some years.
Mrs. Poole was BORN c.1860 and was a resident in Rockdale until "10 years ago" and had operated a millinery shop in Rockdale. Mrs. Clark lived through the years at San Gabriel.
Mrs. Poole's SURVIVORS: 2 daughters, Mrs. Hugh Estell of Rodessa, LA. and Mrs. Gaddy Hall of Lake Arthur, LA.; 3 grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Fanny Brodnax (or Brodnak) of Georgetown (Liberty Hill).
