Lucille G. McKigney, 94, of 2882 Zinna Ave., Dougherty, Iowa died Monday Oct. 29, 2012 at the Rockwell Care Center, Rockwell, Iowa.
Funeral mass will be 10:30a.m. Friday Nov. 2, 2012 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dougherty, Iowa with Rev. Rodney Allers officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Dougherty. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church with a scriptural wake service 5:00p.m. and a rosary at 6:45p.m.
Lucille was born April 12, 1918 in Dougherty, Iowa the daughter of Robert and Mayme (Dougherty) Ormsby. She attended country school and graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic School in Dougherty 1936. She married William Wendell McKigney August 30, 1941 at St. Patrick's. They moved to the farm east of Dougherty where she has continued to live up to the time of her death. To this union six children were born Bernard, Dorothy, Mary Lou, Colleen, Brian and Ronald. She was a loving mother, grandmother and will best be remembered for her cheerful manner. She sang at many weddings and bridal showers. She was very active at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was involved in the choir, taught CCD for ten years, helped with the Turkey Dinners, selling raffle tickets and was always willing to help when needed. She attended many ACCW Meetings and packed layettes and was past president of ACCW. She sold Avon for over thirteen years and was secretary of American Legion Auxiliary for many years. She was known as lucky Lucille and she was always winning prizes.
Lucille was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Dougherty, Senior Citizens Center Dougherty, Rosary Society and American Legion Auxiliary
She is survived by her five children Bernard (Sue) McKigney, Morehead, Minnesota, Dorothy (Mauricio) Betancourt, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Colleen (Bob) Rowe, Brighton, Colorado, Brian (Carrie) McKigney, Mason City, Iowa and Ronald McKigney, Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren Kent Arganbright, Curtis Arganbright, Craig Argenbright, Denyse Gipple and Christian Betancourt; four great-grandchildren Cabe Gipple, Lucy Gipple, Tonnie Arganbright and Travis Arganbright; nephew Robert (Jan) Scholl, Vernon, Florida; Nieces Catherine (Larry) Degen, Rockwell, Iowa, Patricia (Ed) Cahill, Waterloo, Iowa and Marilyn (Joe) Schmit, Hopkins, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters Loyola Scholl and Dorothy Ormsby; daughter Mary Lou Galvin and a grandson Mark Galvin.
