Irene Sophia Ormsby, 96, Newcastle, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at Cascade Vista Nursing Home, Redmond, Wash. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Durant Cemetery. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Bentley Funeral Home, 1001 Sixth St., Durant. Memorial contributions may be made to Altersgate United Methodist Church. Mrs. Ormsby was born on Oct. 25, 1907, in Dixon, the daughter of Ed and Dorathea Paustian Klahn. She married Hank Ormsby. He preceded her in death in 1991. She graduated from Durant High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College. She worked at the Post Office in Stanwood for 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Jim Ormsby; a sister, Dorothy Ellsworth; and two brothers, Elmer Klahn and Orville Klahn.
