Marion Albertine (Ormsby) Dulong, born 22 June 1917 in Berwick, ME, daughter of the late Linda (Curtis) and Ernest Ormsby passed through the veil on August 31, 2008 at Essex Park Nursing and Rehab, Beverly, MA, with her daughter by her side.
Happily married to Richard A. Dulong for 57 years before his death in 1995. She is predeceased by her four siblings, brother Irvin and sisters, Eleanor, Muriel and Marjorie. She had four children, daughter Sandra J. wife of Allen G. Ober of Andover, son Richard L. Dulong of Methuen, David I. and wife Marion (Pitman) of West Hatfield, MA and Alan R. Dulong of Sandy, Utah. Five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Marion grew up in Andover attending the newly built Shawsheen Elementary, graduating from Punchard High in 1935.
Marion raised her family in Shawsheen but moved to Methuen in 1961 when their home was taken by the new Route 495.
Marion was a dedicated mother who combined being a homemaker and employee before it became a ‘social symbol'. She had a ‘fine' hand with a needle, and loved making doll beds and clothes, which she gladly shared with friends and family. Her baked beans were the best ever always available for church affairs. Her membership in Relief Society was energized by her love for family and friends.
Marion was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, first Georgetown then Methuen Wards. Actively involved in Family History, she worked tirelessly to trace her roots back to the 1700's.
The family wishes in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 North Main Street, Suite 104, Natick, MA 01760, the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Essex Park Nursing and Rehab, Hannah Unit, 265 Essex Street, Beverly, MA 01915. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 39 Hill Street, Methuen. Friends are invited to call from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m on Saturday, September 6, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
