YUMA, Ariz. Wylla "Beth" (Ormsby) Horton, 72, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior March 17, 2009, at her home in Yuma, Ariz.
Wylla was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., Jan. 31, 1937, to Howard and Jennie (Taylor) Ormsby. She graduated from Peru Central School in 1954 and later obtained a business degree from Our Lady of Victory. She owned and operated "Wylla's Bar" on City Hall Place and "The Long Branch Saloon" on Bridge Street, where she later retired from nearly 30 years in business. She loved her second family and she enjoyed spending time with them. One of her favorites times were the annual bar picnics at Macomb Park. Playing pinochle, shooting pool or shooting the breeze, she enjoyed life. She even placed fourth place in a New York State 8-Ball Championship Tournament in Lake Placid, N.Y., in the late '70s!
Wylla had many accomplishments but she was also a loving mom, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend! She had such a huge heart and was always helping and giving to others. She had a knack for making people feel special; she never forgot a birthday, anniversary or any date of importance! She had a love of country and always supported our service men and women. She also loved to cook and bake and was really good at it! She loved to watch the news, Nancy Grace, Bill O'Reilly and sometimes she liked to let the TV watch her. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas. She was a huge holiday person and loved to give, a perfect combination. Holidays were her thing; it didn't matter what holiday it was. She had such a beautiful spirit about her, she will most definitely be a treasured memory to all that knew and loved her!
Wylla will be missed by her three children, son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Starr (Dapo) Favreau of Yuma, Ariz., daughters Janet (Francis) Cimaszewski and her partner John Chambers of Putney, Vt., and Charla (Francis) Reardon of Yuma, Ariz.; her grandchildren, Linda J, Amanda Favreau, Andy Favreau and Cody Favreau of Deer Park, Texas, Danielle Favreau of Eunice, La., Shannon and her husband Chad Gundlach of Yuma, Ariz., Kirstin Waterman of Putney, Vt., and Gramma's girl, Madison Reardon of Yuma, Ariz.; and her great-grandchild, Alek Favreau of Eunice, La.
She is survived by brothers Roland and Dorothy (Turner) Ormsby of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., Harold and Robin (Perry) Ormsby of Schuyler Falls, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.
Wylla joined her mother and father; her brother, Robert Ormsby, her sister, Charlotte Seymour, her brother, Glenn Ormsby, all of Schuyler Falls, N.Y.
She also has joined her friend Stu Llewellyn, whom she missed, for another game of cribbage.
